Downy Phlox

This wild phlox is hand printed with professional quality inks on natural off white lokta paper.

I photographed this little flower on a trip to Texas. It’s been sitting and waiting because it’s quite delicate and only recently did I feel I had the skill to accurately transfer how it feels to a print.

The process: I sketch out the flower then transfer my drawing onto a linoleum block which I then carve. The block is rolled with ink, a piece of paper laid on top, and the image is pressed onto the paper.
